The recent Rolls and Bentley posts on the front page made me sit back and think, “I never click on these.” And I think it’s because I don’t give three flying craps about super heavy, extremely expensive luxo barges. I can understand if you do. They’re powerful and comfortable and trimmed for aristocracy, but they’re just not my thing. I’m never going to spend that much on a new car, and by the time I could afford one used, all the luxury will have crusted over and flaked off and I might as well buy a Cadillac or something.
So what segment of enthusiast car interests you the least?

Modern Porsches.
They really just don’t interest me. The only real current Porsche I like is the Panamera. The 911 Targa isn’t that bad either, but everything else is just zzzzzzzz for me.

I’d go with muscle cars in the malaise era. They’re not reliable, not very powerful, not exactly lightweight, I don’t think they’re good looking (that’s subjective though), and go a few years back or forward and they’re way better.

Good point. Okay, over powered muscle cars. I, for some reason, cannot stand muscle cars with 1,500+ horsepower made for the drag strip since their owners tend to be rednecks or d-bags.

I have no interest in insanely priced supercars. I never see them in real life, let alone do I even imagine I would ever drive or own one. DGAF. For me to be interested it has to be something in the realm of plausibility of ownership.

I just hate how they think drag racing is “real racing.” So called “real racing” to me involves learning how to balance a car in a corner, acceleration on straights, and braking before a corner.

Somebody will post a picture of a Jaguar with the caption “Jaaaaagggggg” and then the comment section echos “Jaaaaagggg”. Meanwhile, I’m sitting in my cubical thinking “yep, that’s a Jaguar. Honestly interested here, what (to you) makes them pony cars and not sports cars? What current cars ARE sports cars?
To me, they are lock step with other sportscar staples like the 370z, 4 series, even the GenCoupe. They have both shrunk considerably and can use small engines now. Hell the Camaro is only a little more than a foot longer while being only a few inches wider and it actually lower than a 2-series.

There’s nothing fake about drag racing. It’s a legitamate form of racing and requires more skill (well, talent at least) than you would think.
Unless you’re saying people refer to it as “real racing” as a way to belittle circuit drivers. Then fuck that noise.

A sports car is a car that was built with sporting intentions for all of its life. Pony cars may be sporty today, but the weren’t always like that. Cars like the Camaro and Mustang used to be classified as borderline muscle cars. Pony cars, to me, are sporty muscle cars.

Good to hear they aren’t all bad - maybe it was just first model yeat glitches - hope it holds up for you. From what I’ve seen the SL’s appear to be screwed together a bit better than the lower trims. I don’t care for Toyota much either, but in my case it has more to do with never getting them to reimburse me for a transmission replacement that ended up being part of a recall a few months later.

I might catch shit for this... But I’m pretty uninterested in modern super sedans. All of the Audi, Mercedes AMG, and BMW sedans that are super powerful, yet still relatively big and heavy just don’t do that much for me. I appreciate them and think it’s neat that they exist and that others like them, but I really don’t keep up with them that much. I don’t normally read about them, watch videos about them, etc.

Yep. Luxobarges don’t interest me unless they’re dirt cheap ones from the 80s and older.
Exotic supercars in general, be they new ones like the 458 or Aventador or Zonda or older ones like the Miura or Daytona, don’t really interest me either.
They're cool and all, but for me they're a little pointless. I'll never own one. I might drive one on a track on one of those experience things but I'd rather take that money and go on a trackday with my existing car. There's nothing I can do to one myself to improve it (which is a big reason I like old classics. There's tons I can do myself to improve those!).
